jeff reached out to me the week of his proposal. and he had everything planned out. he knew he wanted to propose to lesley in front of the jefferson memorial at sunset and have the view of the washington monument in the background. he had already applied and gotten the necessary permits required, a huge hurdle for anyone planning to use dc monuments for professional photography. i was so excited and honored to be able to photograph such a special moment. it was a gorgeous saturday, perfect skies and an amazing sunset. (obviously) i’ve not asked someone to marry me, so i can’t imagine how nervous jeff was… but i know when he dropped down on his knee my hands were shaking while i was snapping away. after a beautiful moment, she said YES! the other visitors joined in applauding the newly engaged couple.
of course she said YES! and we all clapped for the newly engaged couple.. such an exciting moment!
we took the opportunity to walk around the memorial for some posed pictures.. the columns and view are just the perfect backdrop.
we walked down by the water (for a little privacy and shade) and the light was just stunning.
jeff and lesley, it was such an incredible honor to photograph your proposal. i know you will forever cherish these moments and i wish you a long and happy life together.
